Antonov AN-12 The AN-12 (Cub) was designed in the late 1950s and is essentially similar to the C-130 Hercules. Production started in 1957 and continued until 1973 after over 1,400 were built. Although lighter and smaller than the civil L100-30 Hercules, the AN-12 is just as versatile and capable, offering a 20 ton payload, 3,000 km range and an ability to operate from gravel strips. The aircraft has a rear loading ramp and on-board gantry crane to assist loading of oversize, bulk cargo.
